Are You Still Using Windows 7?

Posted on September 9th, 2019

You may not have heard but Microsoft Windows 7 and Office 2010, along with other Microsoft programs, will soon come to their End of Life (EOL).  This will be on 14th January 2020 for Windows 7 and 13th October 2020 for Office 2010 when they will no longer be supported by Microsoft.

What this really means for you is that there will be no more updates for the software and, while you think this is a great idea to have no more updates asking to be installed, it’s actually bad news.  It will leave you at increased risk and more open to virus infections.  If you can remember the attack on the NHS in 2017, this was due in part to them running out of date software.

Another thing to think about is that new software (like Office, Google Chrome, Internet Security) and new hardware (printers, scanners) will no longer just work automatically out of the box.

We will also not be able to provide our Managed Support and Managed Internet Security services if your computer is still running Windows 7.

We would recommend that you think about upgrading your computer to Windows 10 or look into procuring a new or refurbished computer that comes with Windows 10.  We are able to supply both as well as set up your new computer, transfer your data (pictures, music, documents and videos as well as other files) and install any software you would like on the new computer.
