Skype Calls Regarding Computer Security

Posted on July 17th, 2012

We have had a few calls from people asking about unsolicited messages and calls received via Skype.

The calls can be regarding “Computer protection not being activated” “Urgent Online Instructions’ asking you to go to a website or similar. This is another scam and can simple be fixed.

To Stop These Calls and Messages

Open Skype

Go to Tools, Options, Click on the “Calls” tab on the left hand side and under “call Settings” change the option from “Allow anyone to call me” to “Only allow people in my contact list to call me”

Click Save

Next we would advise you check your contact list of any contacts you don’t know. if you find any you don’t recognise if you left click on it to select it, then right click and go now and click on “Block This Person”

This will stop any of these calls or messages.

If you have received a call and let the person access your computer, we would recommend that your get your computer checked for any Viruses or Malware. If you have any more questions please don’t hesiate to contact me.
