Networking
If more than one computer is used at a time in your home, it’s very probable that you could use a computer network. To put it simply – a computer network enables your computers to talk to each other and share resources between them.
Share files between computers
Most households have a collection of digital photographs, music files and videos that they’d like to be able to view on any computer in their home. A computer network enables you to share files between all of the computers attached to the network. This means that you will never need to use a USB pen-drive to move a file between your computers again!
Share a printer between computers
Why buy lots of printers when you could be using and maintaining just one? By using a network, you can attach your printer to one of your computers and all the other computers will be able to print too!
Share an Internet connection
Most Internet providers offer the option of “Internet Routers” to help you to share your Internet connection wirelessly. We can help you to configure your router to operate how you want it to. Perhaps you only want to let your children use the Internet at certain times or you’d like to know how to disconnect the Internet completely. We can show you how and set it up for you.
Network-attached storage
These days we all generate a huge amount of data as we use our computers and if it’s not backed up, it could be lost during a hardware failure. It could be your music files, your photographs or your business accounts.
If you have a computer network, you could make use of a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device to backup data from any of the computers on your network. There are even special NAS devices that make two backups at a time… just in case one of the backups goes wrong. We can install and configure such backup devices for you.
